What doesn't show up on your water bill?
Next time you get your water bill, take a close look. You will see charges for water, sewer, and trash removal. There is one item that your water bill pays for you won't see: the Park Police. Thats right, we paid $323,816.00 for the public works department to have a private police force out of our water bill. That pays for 5 officers and a clerk. Please see this extract from the city budget for more details. There are other items paid for by your water bill that have nothing to do with the procurement, storage, treatment, or delivery of water.
Shouldn't the water fund be limited to those items that bring us water? Just my opinion.
